Each year, the Nebraska Press Women sponsors a college communications contest that is held in conjunction with the Professional Communications Contest, using the same guidelines but separate categories.

Collegiate NPW members may compete in the statewide contest, and first place collegiate entries are sent to national competition. The college student contest is held simultaneously with the NPW contest for professionals although the categories differ. college students

Collegiate categories include:
1) Writing with subcategories of news, features, sports, and opinion/editorial/reviews;
2) Art and design with subcategories of design, graphics/illustrations, and photographs;
3) Public relations campaign;
4) Faculty adviser of student publication, station or site.

To enter the state contest, students must:
• be paid members of Nebraska Press Women by Dec. 31; first place winners in the state contest will advance to compete at national if entrant is a member of both NPW and NFPW.
• submit their work by the deadline specified for the Professional Communications Contest (usually the first   Saturday in January)
• include payment for the entries ($10 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry)
• follow all of the Contest Rules listed
• find a category in which to enter your work: 2015_NFPW_Contest_Divisions-and-Categories. Categories 52 through 55 are specific to collegiate entrants.
