OGALLALA — Lori Potter, a reporter with the Kearney Hub, won the 2014 Marianne Beel Sweepstakes Award in the annual Nebraska Press Women professional communications contest.
Mary Pierce of Ogallala placed second, and Carla Chance of Cedar Creek placed third.
The sweepstakes award is named in honor of the late Marianne Beel, a writer and photographer from Valentine who served as the group’s contest director for many years.
The awards were presented Saturday, May 3, at the Nebraska Press Women spring convention in Ogallala. Entries earning first-place awards were sent to the National Federation of Press Women contest, with results to be announced in September.
