Twenty-nine members entered nearly 260 entries in the 2019 Nebraska Press Women Professional Communications Contest, making it one of the largest in recent history.

Of those entries, 52 received first-place awards and advanced to the national contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women. National winners will be announced June 6 in an online ceremony.

The NPW Marianne Beel Sweepstakes Awards will be announced at the fall conference Oct. 17 in Seward.

Broken down by division, nearly 160 entries were in writing division, with almost half of those in specialty articles. Totals for other general categories were: graphics and design, 11; editing,13; photography,43; web and social media, eight; PR and advertising,12; and radio and TV, one.
